Program Information:

Join the conversation here as one of the 70 sites nationwide discussing China’s direct investment in the US and it’s impact on businesses, career opportunities and even the movies we see in theaters. After a brief introduction, at exactly 4:00 pm we will become part of this national experience to meet our first three presenters via live video download of the distinguished panel, followed by a live talk with Darlene Chiu Bryant.

The CHINA Town Hall provides participants the current global understandings, national economic information and critical connections for enhanced success. Students will see the immediate application of what they are learning in their classes to their future careers. The program provides China’s, America’s and California’s perspectives on the meaning and outcomes of Chinese direct investment. This happens through the combination of a live download video panel and an in-‐person discussion involving how China’s investment impacts California. The distinguished panel members include Robert Rubin, Secretary of the Treasury under President Bill Clinton, Sheldon Day, Mayor of Thomasville, Alabama, and Daniel Rosen, Founding Partner of Rhodium Group. The post video discussion features Darlene Chiu Bryant, Executive Director of ChinaSF, appointed by San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee to stimulate economic growth and job creation through bilateral trade and investment between China and San Francisco. The ideas that she shares may be applied in Inland Southern California.
