Ms Ebadi was the first Muslim woman and first Iranian to receive the Noble Peace Prize. After a brilliant career as a judge in Iran, and president of the city court of Tehran, she was deposed in the 1979 Islamic Revolution. She then became an internationally famous human rights attorney and advocate for social justice for women, for which she was awards the Peace Prize in 2003. Also a university professor she has more than 70 published articles and 12 books or various aspects of human rights, some published by UNICEF.
