The news has been so focused on Syria, Turkey, and Ukraine, that India’s aggressive annexation of the disputed territory of Kashmir in early August was just a flicker on most people’s consciousness. The years of separatist violence, often fueled by Pakistan, then harshly repressed by India has largely been ignored in the US.
Victoria Schofield has traveled in and written extensively about South Asia, especially in reference to the Jammu-Kashmir region. She is an engaging speaker and, though she lives in Great Britain, is a good friend of World Affairs Council Inland Southern California. Let us welcome her by sharing a meal and discussion during Thanksgiving week. Countries With Claims in Jammu and Kashmir
