The World Affairs Council of Seattle invites World Affairs Councils in other regions to participate in a special program
Global Health Security and COVID-19 Virtual Program
featuring Bonnie Jenkins Amb. Boonie Jenkins
Bonnie Jenkins, former Ambassador at the U.S. Department of State from 2009 – 2017 as Coordinator for Threat Reduction Programs in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation.
Since 2014, the United States has been part of an initiative to build global capacity to respond to infectious disease threats. The Global Health Security Agenda provides a foundation for the global community to better prepare for and meet the growing challenges of infectious disease. Since its launch, however, the GHSA has been confronted by the 2014 Ebola outbreak; the 2016 Zika virus; the 2018 Ebola outbreak; and now, devastatingly, COVID-19. Is the global health security foundation strong enough for what comes next? Join the World Affairs Council of Seattle for a conversation with Ambassador (ret.) Bonnie Jenkins, who in the course of her long career as a U.S. diplomat was a leading U.S. official in the launch and implementation of the GHSA.
